- Method: Grilling or Pan-Frying
- Cuisine: American
- 1 lb ground venison
- 1/4 lb ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat)
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or gluten-free alternative)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, and buns
- Prepare the Meat Mix: Grind the venison if necessary, and combine it with the ground beef in a large bowl. Chill the mixture for 30 minutes.
- Mix Ingredients: Add the egg, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to the meat. Mix gently to avoid overworking the mixture.
- Shape Patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties about ¾-inch thick. Make a small indent in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
- Cook the Patties: Grill or pan-fry the patties over medium heat. Cook for about 4–5 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
- Assemble the Burgers: Place the cooked patties on toasted buns and add your preferred toppings like lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese. Serve hot.
Notes
- To reduce gamey flavor, marinate venison in buttermilk or vinegar before mixing.
- Ground beef provides moisture and a richer texture to balance the lean venison.
- For an extra smoky flavor, use a grill and baste the patties with BBQ sauce.
